Apple releases a Software Update for Lion called 10.7.1 which fixes the disappearing of the sound after sleep/hibernate:
Just installing it right now, hopefully the problem will be gone.
The day after installing the new Apple OS X Lion on my iMac I thought: Why is it so quiet here today? And then I realized that the system sounds from my iMac where missing e.g. while sending or receiving mails.
Checked with google if it's just me or the new software I found quite some posts regarding this problem. It seems to be a bug in Lion.
Now, that's what I found out: The sound is gone after sleep/resume and it won't start again on it's own the next day.
But, I found a temporary solution to activate the sound again (and even playing all the "missed" sounds):
You have to go to the Audio-Midi-Setup here:
Choose Output on the left side and then just click once in the combo for selecting the channels/bit ratio on the left side. Suddenly the sound is back again.
